Governor Huckabee says he wants to use his last years in office to promote health. Huckabee, who has been on a medically-supervised diet, has lost 75 pounds. He says since he announced he was living a healthier lifestyle, he was received support from all over the hemisphere. He has responded to some of the cards, letters and emails, saying he wants to encourage people. Huckabee says he wants to meet with state officials to discuss strategies to make Arkansans healthier. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta recently ranked Arkansas third nationally in the percentage of residents considered obese. Huckabee says the state pays extra ever year in medical costs for state employees and for public school teachers because of illness. On idea he has is to find a way to provide incentives for state employees to live healthier.
