Updated: January 7, 2009
The car of an eastern Arkansas man who failed to return his nine-year-old son to his mother after a visit was found in Virginia over the weekend. Michael Yarbro drove his son, Troy, to Virginia over the weekend in an older model Chevrolet Cavalier, police said Monday. Yarbro then dumped the vehicle in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the pair began hitchhiking. Troy`s mother Tammy Dewhitt says she was given that account by police. Dewhitt reported her son missing to the Cross County sheriff`s office Sunday night. Arkansas State Police issued a level two Morgan Nick Alert Monday morning. State police spokesman Bill Sadler says the alert included information that Yarbro has a history of physical abuse, but it was not intended to be released to the public. Yarbro has no criminal record of abuse. The father and son were last seen in Arkansas Friday afternoon. Posted by Mike Hellgren
