The Pulaski County Election Commission is
making one last attempt to learn where efforts to improve the voter
registration database stand.
The commission this week sent a letter to County Clerk Carolyn
Staley. It asked her to attend a public meeting next week to
provide information about the status of the database. Her office
won`t say if she or anyone else will attend. Staley did not respond
to Election Commission letters sent in August and September.
A grand jury report found Staley`s failure to follow state laws
on voter registration has been a big factor in problems voters have
encountered at polls in recent years.
The Election Commission is particularly interested in progress
made in implementing precinct boundaries that become effective
January 15th. If that`s not done, they say the May primary could be
a massive headache.
