39th Gets Called Up To Duty

Nearly three-thousand Arkansas National Guard soldiers are heading for Iraq. Major General Don Morrow, adjutant general of the Arkansas guard, announced Saturday that the guard`s 39th Infantry Brigade has been mobilized to go on active duty October 12th. The soldiers will gather at their hometown units -- 47 across the state -- beginning October 12th and travel to their mobilization station at Fort Hood, Texas. Brigadier General Ronald Chastain, commander of the 39th Infantry, said the brigade has been on alert since July. He said its members had been performing additional training and organizing family-support groups, and are prepared to accept the mission
