The homeless population is getting bigger, and not enough is being done to help those without homes in central Arkansas.
That`s the word from the National Coalition for the Homeless in Washington, D.C.
Officials say homelessness has increased about 25% in most cities in the last two years.
They say agencies in Little Rock are trying, but there`s still a lot of work to be done.
"Shelters need to be open 24 hours a day, there needs to be a larger day center. Police need to quit harassing homeless people living here along the park," said Michael Stoops, the coalition`s coordinator.
Stoops says the causes of homelessness include a lack of affordable housing and decent pay.
