Updated: January 7, 2009
Hundreds of immigrant workers are travelling around the country to brin attention what they say is their mistreatment in the workplace. They stopped in Little Rock Saturday for a rally at Little Rock Central High School. The "Freedom Riders" are supported by ACORN, the AFL-CIO, and several other unions. They say immigrant workers deserve better working conditions with the same wages, benefits and insurance as other American workers. But many of them say they don`t have the proper documention to get a better job. "All they`re asking is to speed up the immigration process, stop the red tape," said Alan Hughes, AFL-CIO. "We want to make a clear pathway for immigration, so people can become legal immigrants, citizens, so their kids can go to school," said Dr. Cesar Compadre, a local activist.
