Updated: January 7, 2009
Two days after General Wesley Clark announces his run for the White House, Arkansas Republicans are sizing him up as an opponent for George Bush. State party chairman Marty Ryall ackowledges Clark`s vast military experience, but says the last few elections have been won on domestic issues. Ryall points to stronger than expected economic growth in the second quarter as proof that the Bush tax cut plan is working. He says that trend and the strength of housing starts will continue, making it very hard for any democrat to make the economy an issue.
