Ousted NYSE Chairman gets $140 Million

Updated: January 7, 2009
Dick Grasso, the former Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, was given $140 million in compensation after being voted out by NYSE Board. The board says Grasso`s compensation was based on how much money he amassed during his 36 years with the Exchange. Investors citicized the timing of the payout citing the poor performance of the market and the massive layoffs of Exchange employees since the September 11th attacks. Grasso`s successor hasn`t been named.
