Wesley Clark Announces Run For President On NBC Today Show

Former Army General Wesley Clark revealed his decision to run for president several hours before a planned announcement Wednesday. He said in a webcast for volunteers that he would enter the Democratic primaries. Clark said "I`m going to announce this morning that I`ve accepted your draft, that I will seek to become the next president of the United States." Clark also said while being interviewed for NBC`s "Today Show" that he would run. Clark scheduled an announcement at noon at a Little Rock boys and girls club. Advisers said Tuesday Clark had told them he would enter the race to challenge President Bush. ------ The Little Rock-based group Draft Clark for President 2004 posted the webcast. Clark thanked volunteers who worked to build an organization for his campaign and told them he will need their further efforts. Clark said "We need to raise a shout across this land, we need to make a difference in American history."
