Arkansas Unemployment Numbers

Arkansas` unemployment rate dropped slightly last month to five-point-four percent, a tenth of a point below the rate for July. The Arkansas Workforce Investment Board says that`s the second consecutive monthly decrease. The national figure also fell by a tenth of a point to six-point-ond percent for the month. The number of employed Arkansans increased by 900 workers to one (m) million, 233-thousand, 500 while the number of jobless Arkansans decreased by 400 to 70-thousand, 700 in August. The biggest increase in a single sector was 45-hundred additional government jobs, which is normal as support personnel return to work for the start of the school year. Posted by Mike Hellgren
