Feds Continue Investigation Into Sharp County Kennel

Updated: January 7, 2009
More than 100 dogs are in federal custody after being seized from a kennel in Sharp County. The dogs were taken after allegations of abuse. Some of the dogs appeared to be malnurished and abused. The government says the owners of the Martin Creek Road Kennel may have violated the Animal Welfare Act. But agents stress the investigation is ongoing. "No arrests have been made, no indictments have been made and we are not in a position to release any information about this investigation," says Bud Cummins with the U.S Attorneys Office. The kennel owner has a Class B license, which allows him to sell the animals to reseach labs. But investigators are trying to figure out where he got the dogs. If you suspect one of those dogs may be yours, call (866) 696-6668.
