Morrilton police say an elderly man was killed instantly when he stepped into the path of a Union Pacific train. A witness told police 84-year old Hervey Russell didn`t acknowledge the presence of the train when he walked into its path Wedneday. The train needed time to stop, and the victim was trapped under the train about 60 feet of the crossing. That crossing is marked by alarm lights, bells, and drop arms. Police said it was unclear whether the Russell was trying to beat the train.
