Former Officer Sues Conway Police Department

A former Conway police officer sued the police chief Tuesday. Ex-police officer Brandon Lee Tyner claims he was
turned down for re-employment after testifying for a fellow officer
who settled a free-speech lawsuit with the city.
Tyner seeks damages, back-pay and a job with the police
department in his federal lawsuit. He also seeks an injunction
requiring Police Chief Randall Aragon to remove what Tyner alleges
was adverse information from his personnel file.
Tyner contends he was banned from employment by the police
department after giving a favorable statement for former lieutenant
Bill Thessing in a 2000 lawsuit. The suit claimed Thessing was
denied free-speech and due-process rights in trying to expose
corruption in the department.
