Consultants Release Report On Education Reform

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Consultants hired to guide legislators in recommending education reforms released their final report today. And the estimated cost of overhauling Arkansas` public school system rose by 22 (m) million dollars, to 847 (m) million dollars. Consultants say the increase in new annual education funding came after fine tuning the budget recommendations. The final report was filed after a summer of meetings between the California-based consultants and the Joint Committee on Educational Adequacy. The committee was charged with recommending changes to meet a state Supreme Court ruling that declared Arkansas` school funding system inadequate and unequal. The committee tentatively released details of the plan and cost estimates last month, when it approved consultants` recommendations. Posted by Mike Hellgren
