Hospitals in four Arkansas cities -- Hot Springs, Jonesboro, Russellville, and Searcy -- are being sold by subsidiaries of Tenet Healthcare to Triad Hospitals. Plano, Texas-based Triad announced today the sale price would be 134 million dollars plus the assumption of eight million dollars in debt. Also, Tenet will retain accounts receivable within the hospitals. The largest of the facilities is the 193-bed Central Arkansas Hospital at Searcy. St. Mary`s Regional Medical Center at Russellville has 170 beds and National Park Medical at Hot Springs has 166 beds. The smallest is the Regional Medical Center of Northeast Arkansas at Jonesboro, with 104 beds. Triad already owns hospitals in Bentonville, El Dorado, Hope, Johnson and Springdale. Triad said it expects the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, to close in the fourth quarter of 2003.
