Is Change Coming With New State Law That Deals With Overweight Children?

A state representative says he`s open to changing a state law so that it employs more privacy in conveying
to parents whether their children are overweight.
The law in question requires public schools to work up an annual body mass index, using height, weight and age, to indicate body fat of each student.
Providing the information to parents could help combat obesity and reduce diabetes and other health effects of being overweight at a young age, sponsors said. State Representative Jay Bradford of White Hall says it may be better to mail the information home
instead of putting it in report cards.
Any change would need legislative approval.
