The commander of the 314th Airlift Wing says he is pleased with his first experience flying a new C-130-J cargo plane. Brigadier General David Scott landed a C-130-J at Little Rock Air Force Base today. The plane is on loan from a unit based in Mississippi. Scott is the first member of his unit to fly the newest, most powerful version of the cargo plane that`s the backbone of the unit`s complement of aircraft. The Little Rock base is the primary training facility for the C-130 in the Air Force, and Scott says he expects that eventually as many as 16 C-130-J`s to be stationed at the base. Scott says there are two differences in the new aircraft that stood out for him -- its power, and the updated avionics displays -- with the power being most impressive.
