Cool Jobs During Hot Days

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The weather outside is hot, but work conditions are on the frosty side for many Arkansans. Zamboni operator Chris White definitely isn`t sweating it out this summer. "I get to get my hands on an $80,000 piece of equipment, and it isn`t a Jaguar or a Ferrari," says White. The ice stays at a constant 10-degrees Farenheit, but that`s nothing compared to the conditions in Coleman Dairy`s ice cream storage unit-- a bone chilling 20-below, 24 hours a day. "Everybody`s moving constantly, so it helps them stay warm," explains Coleman Dairy`s Bobby Summerville. For some, working in cold conditions is art. Clyde Aaron (a.k.a., Iceman), an ice sculptor, runs Creative Ice Image in Little Rock. He says he gets used to the cold temperatures, and like the other workers, says it`s made even easier when staying busy and focused on the job.
