ATU Questions Unequal Higher Ed Funding

Updated: January 7, 2009
College students across Arkansas head back to class this week, but students at Arkansas Tech University will have to get by with less than students at other state universities, even though Tech is one of the fastest growing schools in arkansas. Tech receives considerably less state funding per student than all other four-year schools -- and most of the two-year colleges. "Students that go to one state college or university that`s similar to another state college or university receive widely different funding amounts from the state of Arkansas," says Tech President Robert Brown, Ph.D. State lawmakers are set to begin adressing the funding issue in committee meetings later this month.
