breaking news
From a can of Mountain Dew to a blanket during a cold winter night, there isn`t anything Patrice Swan wouldn`t share with her horses, Puddin` and Widow. "They`re my children," Swan explains.
Now, the unconventional family is connected by something else-- physical pain and the struggle to stay alive. For Patrice, it was a 1999 accident with a gun. "[The horses] didn`t care how I looked. It never mattered to them. They always loved me anyway."
For Puddin` and Widow, the bruises and possible breaks came at the hands of a late-night attacker. "[Widow] was hit across the head really hard. She bled out the nose til after 3 a.m.," Swan says.
As the search for the attacker continues, a new journey begins for Patrice Swan. She says she`s working to get Puddin` and Widow back to health... and repay them for what they gave her. "They saved my life when I needed it," she remembers. "They`re my heart and my soul, both of them. They`re my girls."
Treatment for Puddin` and Widow could cost Swan thousands of dollars. If you`d like to help, you can send donations to:
