Kids More Likely to Die in Fires

Arkansas children are three times more likely to die in house fires than adults, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
On Wednesday, FEMA launched a new campaign aimed at preventing tragedies.
It`s called "Prepare. Practice. Prevent the Unthinkable."
Firefighters in Conway use tools like a remote control fire truck driven by a character named Patches to help teach kids on a level they can easily understand.
The department also has a fire safety house.
Conway Fire Marshal Randy Freeman tells News 4 Arkansas, "We teach kids to stay away from the stove if there`s a fire on the stove. We teach them to evacuate and leave, get down low and crawl to the exit door."
Freeman says the fire prevention program for kids is paying off. It`s been more than a decade since someone in Conway has died in a house fire.
