The flag at the state Capitol will be flown at half-staff Friday to honor slain Army Specialist Jonathan Cheatham of Camden. Governor Huckabee made that proclamation Thursday. The 19-year-old soldier was killed July 26th in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in Baghdad. Cheatham was ssigned to the 489th Engineer Battalion of the US Army Reserve at North Little Rock when he joined the military last fall after high school. Huckabee is urging all Arkansans to honor Cheatham Friday. Hundreds attended Cheatham`s military funeral Sunday at Camden-Fairview High School. Huckabee spokesman Jim Harris says the state flag is to be lowered Friday, when a family ceremony is scheduled.
