Some young Arkansans are preparing themselves to help out in case a disaster strikes.
The Central Arkansas Chapter Youth Council functions like a miniature American Red Cross chapter in schools and neighborhoods.
Seventeen members of the council received training from the American Red Cross today on CPR, disaster services, plus teambuilding and leadership.
"In order to come together as a council we have to get to know each other, about our interests. So when the school year starts and we have different projects, we can work together better," says Krystal Barker, the Youth Council`s co-chair.
The students can use the skills they learn this week to help other students stay safe, prevent violence, and volunteer with their local Red Cross chapters.
