Investigators Look Into Abuse At Dallas County Nursing Home

Dallas County officials and state police are investigating the beating of an elderly woman in a Fordyce nursing home. State police investigator Terrie Smith says the 81-year-old victim was found injured late last week by employees at Dallas County Nursing Home. Smith says the victim is in critical condition at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, where she was taken for treatment of serious facial injuries. He says although doors are normally locked at night, an outside door might have been left open the night the woman was attacked, and possibly raped in her room. Employees of the facility are being interviewed and Smith says he plans to use lie detectors as part of the investigation.
