Water Travel In Arkansas

A conference getting under way Tuesday in Little Rock focuses on the travel and business opportunities on the state`s hundreds of miles of waterways. Governor Huckabee and US Senator Mark Pryor are among the speakers for the event, which runs through Thursday in the capital city. Topics to be addressed range from progress in waterway development in Arkansas, waterway and port security to federal perspectives on water matters. State legislators on the Public Transportation Committee will take part in the conference Wednesday to get an update on development along Arkansas` more than 1,000 miles of navigable waters. The Governor`s Conference on Waterborne Transportation is organized by the Arkansas Waterways Association, Arkansas Waterways Commission and US Army Corps of Engineers.
