The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s new $20 instant ticket, $1,000,000 Diamond Dazzler, went on sale yesterday, and one lucky Jackson County player cashed in on the very first day. With this win, the Lottery has created four Arkansas millionaires in 45 days.

The Diamond Dazzler game, printed on eye-catching holographic paper, features Arkansas’s first $20 instant ticket. Prizes are awarded for matching 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 of the numbers and range up to a top prize of $1,000,000. Odds of winning with the Diamond Dazzler ticket are 1 in 2.9, and 1 in 750,000 tickets awards a $1 Million prize. The ASL announced the $20 ticket as appealing to players who can afford to pay a little more to gain better odds and the chance of a big payout. In this case, the payout was quick and huge.

Players who win $1 Million pay $70,000 into the Arkansas state tax coffers. Tobacco Superstore #4 in Newport sold the ticket and will receive a $10,000 selling bonus. The Jackson County winner requested that his name not be published.

“The Arkansas Lottery Commission is delighted for this Arkansas player,” said Commission Chair Dianne Lamberth of Batesville. “I personally enjoy having a big winner in a neighboring county!”  She emphasized the it is the ALC’s job to maximize scholarships for Arkansas students, and said, “we also are glad to see players winning, extra funding for Arkansas’s state government, and more profits for our retailers.”

Lottery and Tobacco Superstore will be on hand for the $10,000 retailer selling bonus presentation on Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at the store’s 2000 Malcolm Avenue location in Newport.
