Arkansas Fishing Report with Big Sarge (Feb. 14 - 18)

Updated: May 20, 2011
I'm Big Sarge. I'm on the Arkansas River right now.
I'm not going to sugar coat it: the fishing's not real good right now. Water temperature's about 46 degrees but the good news is I do have a good report for you.
Lake Conway, fishing's really good right now. Pierce Creek 89 bridge if you don't have a boat. White jigs and pinkheads are working real well.
Trout fishing, Little Red River: excellend right now. The browns are not biting real well, but the rainbows are really eatin good. Go down there if you're a fly fisherman, use the zebra midge; if you're in a boat, night crawlers -- fill 'em up with a little air and you'll catch a lot of trout.
Hey, I've got some real good information on Lake DeGray. Tammy Richardson which I've had on here before, she's a crappie guide on Lake DeGray, herself and the Game and Fish went together and they put some structures in Lake DeGray. The GPS coordinates to those structures are on FishingWithTammy.com, (see note below). Go there, find you some structures and you're going to catch a lot of fish.
And you know what, my last tip of the day: if you happen to see a submarine in the water, fish next to it because I betcha you can catch some fish. Sometimes you don't just catch bass out here on the river, you catch some drum.
Hey this is Big Sarge, I'll see you next week.
CRAPPIE FISHING
Hot spot: Lake Conway
Fish 7 - 9 feet. Use 1/32oz. pearl white/pink head jigs. Gold Creek and Adams Lake.
Lake Chicot
Use black/chart jigs.
TROUT FISHING
Hot spot: Little Red River
Great time for fly fisherman. Browns/rainbows really good. Fish deep side of shoals. Egg pattern working well/nightcrawlers. For more information, call Billy at Lindsey's Resort, 1-800-305-8790.
BASS FISHING
Hot spot: Lake Ouachita
Fish outside grass line. Use big spinnerbaits 1 oz. to 2 oz. and crankbaits and rattletraps.
Greers Ferry
Jerkbait starting to work. Fish points and creek channels.
STRIPER FISHING
Hot spot: Lake Ouachita
Look for bait.
NOTE: Tammy will have the GPS locations of all structures for Lake DeGray next week. She is having problems with her website.
