Updated: January 7, 2011
The nation's unemployment rate fell nearly half-a-percent in December to nine-point-four-percent.

About 103-thousand nonfarm jobs were added that month.

The unemployment rate hasn't been this low since May of 2009.

Employment increased in the leisure and hospitality and healthcare sectors.

There was little change in other major sectors.

The report says 14-and-a-half-million people were unemployed in December.

That's a drop of more than half a million from November.
