Report Says Afghanistan Pullout on Target

By: Newsroom Solutions
Updated: December 16, 2010
American forces will begin withdrawing from Afghanistan as planned in July and security will shift to the Afghans by the end of 2014.

That's the summary from President Obama's review of the war which will be made public later today.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says the report will highlight key battlefield successes as well as the challenges ahead.

In a speech later today, Obama is not expected to announce any major changes to his strategy implemented a year ago.

That's when he ordered 30-thousand more troops be sent to Afghanistan.
