Thousands of bees kept firefighters in Woodinville, Washington away as they tried to reach an injured beekeeper.

The 70-year-old man had fallen into a pond and was surrounded by the swarm.

The man told his rescuers that while tending his bees, he tripped, dislocated his hip, and caused the bee hive to topple over as he fell into a frigid backyard pond.

Luckily, he was wearing a bee suit when he fell and was only stung a few times.

Only one firefighter was stung, despite thousands of agitated bees flying around during the rescue.
