Training Tip 8 from Little Rock Marathon Coach Tom Singleton:
This week we want to talk a little bit about not running, yeah that's right, not running.
The things that you could do in your off time to help strengthen the muscles that you don't use when you are running, popularly known as cross training.
Some good examples of cross training are when you think about it, riding a bike or maybe swimming. Did you know that yoga is a good cross training exercise? How about some light weightlifting?
My favorite, core exercises, crunches, situps, things along that line to build those muscles to keep you stable and strong on your run.
Remember, running builds your legs, but it doesn't build all the muscles in your body and you want to have balance if you're going to go the distance.
