Sasha and Malia Obama are among the millions of American kids heading back to school today.

The First Daughters will return to the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC after a busy summer.

Their break included piano recitals, reading lists, sporting events, and sleepovers, as well as trips to Los Angeles, Martha's Vineyard, the Gulf Coast and everywhere in between.

The summer got off to an exciting start with a White House performance from the Jonas Brothers.

Later, nine-year-old Sasha accompanied First Lady Michelle Obama on trip to Spain that made headlines.

Twelve-year-old Malia grew several inches, got braces and spent four weeks at a summer camp in New Hampshire.
