The Arkansas Lottery Commission has approved its proposal to sell tickets in vending machines at retailers across the state.

The decision came after a public hearing on the idea this afternoon.

During the hearing the commission heard from a crowd that included both supporters and opponents of the idea. The hearing lasted for about an hour. Participants were given three minutes each to share their opinion.

After approving the ticket sales, the commission said the machines would be put in place sometime next month but they did not set an exact date.

The Lottery Commission has said the first 100 machines will bring in an additional $5 million in revenue to use toward college scholarships.

Opponents fear the machines will lead to underage gambling and cater to addicted gamblers.

Big "dreamers" should face reality and remember this: Regardless of whether you buy your ticket at a store,or in a vending machine, there will only be so many winning tickets printed for every hundred "losing" tickets that are printed. How many "winning" tickets do you think will be printed out of every hundred that are printed? Not many.

If your old enough, have the money and want a lottery ticket you can buy one now. The only way this will bring in an additional 5 million is to add the underage.
The only tickets I purchase now are the powerball and mega every now and then. If I am directed to a machine I will pass in protest.
