As a television station, we have a responsibility to you, and to the community we live in. In our news programs, our team of journalists works hard to bring you the important local stories of the day. You can count on us to be in-depth and investigative in our reporting. Digging deep… asking tough questions… and holding the powerful accountable. Our team of meteorologists works hard to not only provide you with accurate and dependable forecasts, but to keep you safe in severe weather.

However, we believe that our responsibility to you and our community is much bigger than that. There are hard working people here in Arkansas.  And we want to work with you, side by side, to make our community a better place to live and work.  That’s why, over the coming months, you will hear us talking about a project called, 4 The Greater Good.

4 The Greater Good will focus on four key issues in our community. First, 4 The Greater Good will focus on feeding hungry families. Did you know that the food hardship rate for Arkansas households with children is nearly 30%? We will work hard to not only raise awareness, but to make sure that hungry families get the food and support they need. The second 4 The Greater Good issue is making sure that our children have the resources and tools they need for school… from computers in their classrooms, to rulers and pencils, to breakfast before school so that they can focus during the day… providing these things for our children is essential if we are to grow and thrive as a community. The third 4 the Greater Good issue is centered on Aging in Arkansas… making sure that the aging population in our community has the resources and care that they need to age independently with grace and dignity.  And finally, the fourth cornerstone of 4 the Greater Good is volunteerism. In many cases, volunteers are the engine that powers the services in our community. For 33 years KARK has celebrated volunteerism with our Community Services awards, and now we will expand our work in this area.

And so, we start here.

4 The Greater Good isn’t just a slogan. It’s what we believe in. It’s what we stand for. And, its our way of living our responsibility to you.

As with all messages that you hear from me from now on, I want your feedback.  I’d love to know what you think about our 4 The Greater Good project, and what ideas you have.

You can contact me my calling our main number, 340-4444 or by sending me an email. You can reach me at rick@kark.com.

I would like to thank you for counting on us and watching KARK …and most importantly… thank you in advance for all that we will do in working to help others…. 4 The Greater Good.
