- KARK 4 Expands Morning Newscast -
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — July 27, 2010 — KARK-TV, owned by Nexstar Broadcasting, will be expanding local morning news in Little Rock. KARK 4 Today, the morning newscast that airs Monday through Friday from 5-7am, will continue on KARK’s sister station, KARZ 42 from 7-9am. This will provide viewers with more than four consecutive hours of local news, weather and traffic each weekday morning. The two-hour extension will make it the only local newscast in Central Arkansas during that time period and increase KARK 4’s local news programming to more than 7 hours per day.
Nexstar Senior Vice President Rick Rogala says, “In many cities across the country, viewers are served by a local newscast airing from 7-9am. While the network morning newscasts, and in particular the Today Show, have been very successful in attracting viewers, local newscasts that air in the 7-9am time slot have also enjoyed great success. We are delighted to be able to serve our viewers with local news, weather and information by expanding our incredibly popular local morning news product another two hours onto KARZ.”
KARK 4 News Director Rob Heverling says, “Our viewers count on us to be updated, informative, and to give them accurate weather forecasts every morning. Now we have the opportunity to keep the newscast going for viewers that can’t watch from 5-7am.” Heverling went on to say, “There will be some exciting additions to the newscast on KARZ but it all comes down to providing viewers with the content they are looking for to start their day.”
The morning newscast on KARZ is expected to launch in August. Programming information can be found at ArkansasMatters.com.
