Ben Frost finished the Little Rock Marathon today in a wheelchair with a time of 4:49:27. Now he wants to try skiing!
The 12-year-old from Maumelle was born with cerebral palsy. In today’s marathon, his wheelchair was pushed by Amy Winters of Long Island, New York. Winters lost her left leg below the knee in 1994 following a motorcycle accident.
Winters, who holds world record times in the marathon and triathlon, said her goal now is to inspire children, no matter their disability, to reach for the stars.
In today’s Little Rock Marathon, Winters said they lost a wheel off the wheelchair at mile 19. They stopped, put it back on and kept on going.
She asked Ben to think during the race of five athletic goals that he wants to reach, and she will help him.
Ben said first he wants to try skiing. Winters agreed to take him skiing with her next year, if he would try a triathlon with her. Ben’s Mom, Michelle Frost, said it looks like it’s going to be a busy year!
