The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is riding a wave of success in its first week of existence.

Instant (scratch-off) tickets went on sale Monday and brought in $1.2 million on the lottery's first day.

On Tuesday, lottery officials reported a sales total of $1.3 million.

Wednesday's sales figures went even higher, coming in at $1,415,865.

New instant games will become available on October 20, while Powerball tickets go on sale October 31st, and state draw games lottery tickets arrive December 14th.

The lottery is expected to bring in as much as $400 million during its first year, with $100 million going to college scholarships for Arkansas students.

Meanwhile, HOPE for Arkansas says the lottery has already produced $1 million in net proceeds for new scholarships for Arkansas students and families. The group says the climbing lottery revenue will mean even more for scholarships.

If the goal of $100 million annually is reached, HOPE says that level of performance should provide awards of $5,000 annually for scholarship recipients enrolling in four-year schools and $2,500 annually for scholarship recipients enrolling in two-year colleges.
