High School Seniors Excited for Lottery Scholarships

On the first day of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, dozens of parents and students crowded the North Little Rock High School West Campus College Fair to check out their options for the future.

Director Ernie Passailague said on KARK 4 News at 7 on KARZ they sold an estimated $1.3 million dollars worth of tickets.  Those sales will fund thousands of dollars worth of scholarships for students, beginning in Fall 2010.

NLRHS students say they are excited to have another scholarship opportunity and will apply for it.

"If I'm able to obtain a scholarship, that would be a great honor, especially being the first year," senior Joseph Holloway said.

"I think it's a great opportunity.  No matter how much you get, it could pay for your meal ticket or books, that kind of stuff you need money for," senior Carrie Mellinger said.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, counselors will tell the students how to apply for the funds and what requirements students need to qualify.
