Arkansans won't be able to buy Powerball tickets until Halloween, but for states that sell lottery tickets, excitement is in the air.

The Powerball and the Mega-Millions lottery jackpots could offer a huge payday if anyone picks all the correct numbers in the upcoming drawings.

The Powerball lottery has built itself up to an estimated quarter-billion dollars. A match of five numbers and the Powerball number in tonight's drawing will win the 250-million-dollar jackpot.

The current jackpot began building on July 1st and has grown through 14 consecutive drawings. The  cash option is an estimated 124-point-eight-million bucks. Powerball is played in 30 states, Washington, DC and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Arkansas joins the Powerball lottery on September 28th.

The Mega-Millions lottery has also grown to an estimated 207-million dollars after there was no jackpot winner in Tuesday's drawing. The cash option is an estimated 130-million dollars. The next Mega-Millions drawing is set for this Friday. Mega-Millions can be played in 12 states.
