A new poll may show that opinions about the Arkansas Lottery are changing.

The poll by news source Talk Business says 49% of those surveyed have a favorable opinion of the lottery while 40% have an unfavorable opinion.

That’s compared to the actual vote in November where nearly 60% voted for it.

But even more revealing--it says 81% agree that director Ernie Passailaigue’s $324,000 salary is too high. The Commission defends the pay saying it was approved by statute and by Commission vote.

The Commission is also in the middle of a hiring process. So far they have received between 7,500 and 9,000 applications-many of them online.

"The head of office management said they had never seen anything like it before, that's when we decided to move the application process to a snail mail or fax in order to serve people better,” said Julie Baldridge, with the Commission.

There are 31 job categories listed-though some have as many as 20 positions available under those titles. You can find by click here.
