Buy Arkansas Lottery Tickets before Halloween!

Arkansans who are anxious to buy tickets in the newly formed Scholarship Lottery now have only a four-month wait.

According to the Hope for Arkansas website, the state's Lottery Commission today put itself on a pace to have the Scholarship Lottery up and running before the end of October.

That means Arkansans could be buying lottery tickets before Halloween.

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, who spearheaded the drive to get the lottery approved released the following statement on the latest developments this afternoon:

 "I applaud the Arkansas Lottery Commission for setting an accelerated pace to have the Scholarship Lottery up and running. Today the commission has targeted October 29 or earlier as the start date for lottery ticket sales. This is exciting news for Arkansas students and families. Every day we have a fully operational lottery means another $1 million in ticket sales and another $250,000 in net proceeds for college scholarships. At the pace the Commission approved this afternoon, lottery games will begin less than one year after voters approved the change to the state constitution. Arkansas will begin banking new lottery new lottery-funded scholarships before the end of the year."
