"Star Trek" Beams into Theaters

 The wait is over for "Star Trek" fans everywhere.

One of the most highly-anticipated films of the year is now in theaters.

The film started rolling at 7:00 pm Thursday night in 38-hundred theaters around the country.

The big budget action adventure is the 11th film in the "Star Trek" franchise.

Director J.J. Abrams is behind this latest installment which aims to explore the origins of the crew of the USS Enterprise.

Abrams says "Star Trek" moviegoers are in for a visual feast with this new film.

The "Star Trek" cast includes Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, original "Star Trek" cast member Leonard Nimoy as the older Spock, Winona Ryder as Spock's mother, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu and Eric Bana as Romulan villain Nero.

"Star Trek" is rated PG-13.
