10:50 p.m. - Retailers Expecting Big Sales for Halloween

halloweenWith the witching hours of Halloween still a month away, some local retailers are expecting big sales.

At Party City, managers say sales are usually flat at the beginning of October, and rapidly pick up as the holiday approaches.

The shelves are already stocked with ghouls and goblins and tons of trinkets..

Even despite the current economy, managers are expecting a bigger season than last year, for one particular reason


“Being that it is on a Friday, the kids don't have to be at school the next day, so we are expecting a big increase this year,” said Party City manager Mitchell Keathley.


The consumer confidence index rose slightly in September, the highest level since April.
