The Arkansas Democratic Convention was held today in Little Rock.

Democrats from across the state gathered at the Wyndham hotel for the convention and committee meeting to re-elect state committee members and talk about their election plan.

One chairman says they hope to continue progress with Democrats being appointed to the state House and Senate while getting voters excited at the same time.

Party Chairman Will Bond says, "We hope to accomplish, one, getting people pumped up and fired up for the election, and letting people know how important this election is for Arkansas Democrats."

The Jefferson-Jackson dinner will also held Saturday night at the Verizon Arena with Governor Beebe and political analyst and author Drew Westen expected to speak.

Also on Saturday, a spokesperson for the Republican party issued this statement to KARK:

"Arkansas Democrats are desperate because they have no plan, no solutions and no vision except to preserve the status quo and continue to support President Obama's failed policies. Arkansas Republicans are putting forth bold, conservative solutions and in November, voters will show their support and elect a new Republican majority to the legislature and beyond."
