The UAMS College of Medicine Parents Club was started in 1976. The board has 37 members. The Club has 179 members. The purpose of the club is to improve the quality of life for the students and help them in ways that are beyond what the COM can provide.

The Parents Club raises money to maintain student research and study centers with computers etc.

The Parents Club also provides scholarships and funds student activities such as the Family Day Luncheon with COM tours to introduce the families to what life will be like for the students for the next 4-7 years.

Because many graduating students cannot afford the required travel for residency interviews at hospitals and medical facilities across the country, the Parents Club helps to offset those expenses. The med students may have 20-30 interviews all across the country to find a residency spot. This can be quite expensive with travel, flights, hotels, etc.

This year's Parents Club fund-raiser will be the Treasure Island Musical Preview Night with a silent auction at the Rep.
