Man Accused of Hitting and Killing Conway Police Officer Goes to Court This Week

The man accused of hitting and killing a Conway Police officer will face a judge Wednesday.

Barry Strickland is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and driving under the influence of drugs.

He will be in court Febuary 13 in Faulkner County.

On January 31, Officer William McGary was hit while working an accident scene in Conway. 

On February 1, Officer McGary died.

According to prosecutors,  Strickland ran into McGary with his Jeep and trapped the officer between two vehicles.

Prosecutors say Strickland admitted to running off the road at least two other times before he hit Officer McGary.
