A lot of families are shopping for the perfect gift and planning their menu for Christmas dinner, but one woman in Cabot can only think about getting her son ready for a bone marrow transplant.

Decorating for the holidays is usually a big family tradition for Tracie Varnador, but this year is different.

"I usually do a little bit more," she says. "We are going to be leaving any day to go to Dallas for a bone marrow transplant, so I did not want to decorate."

Her 6-year-old son, Tanner, has Leukemia.

They've been waiting for months for a call from Dallas to find out when his bone marrow transplant would take place.

"Even though it's at Christmas time, I'm ready to go ready to do it, so he can be the normal, healthy, happy kid," she says.

While Tanner has had cancer for the past three years, he said he doesn't really understand what's going on.

"I don't know anything about it," he says.

The call Tracie has been waiting for, came during our interview.

"I'm very excited," she said.

The news came as a huge relief for Tracie and Tanner, a brave little boy hoping for a Christmas miracle.
