The Razorback Nation has learned through sources that Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema will be named the next head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Bielema and the Badgers finished the 2012 season with an 8-5 recording winning the Big 10 and earning and bid to the Rose Bowl after Ohio State and Penn State where ineligible to compete for the conference title.

Bielema has been at Wisconsin since 2004 serving as defensive coordinator for two seasons before being named head coach of the Badgers in 2006. He was named the Big 10 Coach of the Year in his first season after recording a 12-1 record.

Bielema has a career record in seven seasons at Wisconsin of 68-24. He has a 2-4 bowl record including beating Arkansas in the 2007 Capital One Bowl.

Bielema has won three Big 10 titles in a row and has the Badgers going to their third straight Rose Bowl.

Bielema has been a college coach since 1994 spending time in Iowa and Kansas State before coming to Wisconsin. He played college ball at Iowa from 1989-1992 under legendary head coach Hayden Fry.

It is unclear what Bielema's contract details are but he signed an extension at Wisconsin in 2011 with an annual salary of $2.5 million.

According to FootballScoop.com Bielema told his coaches an hour ago that he had taken the job.

He replaces John L. Smith, who was let go as head coach of the Razorbacks on November 24th, after serving seven months of his 10-month contract at Arkansas. Smith took over for Bobby Petrino after serving three seasons on Arkansas coaching staff.

He takes over a Razorback team coming off a 4-8 season including a 2-6 record in SEC play.
