New Speaker of the Arkansas House is Cabot's Davy Carter

The Arkansas House is putting its leadership in place in advance of the upcoming General Assembly.

This afternoon members voted Rep. Davy Carter, of Cabot, as their Speaker of the House.

The speaker-elect is a banker/attorney who represents District 48.

Rep. Terry Rice, of Waldron, who represents District 62, was also in the running for the post.

Carter replaces out-going House Speaker Darrin Williams, of Little Rock, who represented District 36.

The Arkansas Legislature convenes on January 14th for its 89th General Assembly.
