"It's an unfortunate turn of events," said Faulkner County prosecutor Cody Hiland. "But we don't have two sets of rules for people who are prominent and those who are not."
Friday morning Gillean was charged with several criminal offenses.
"Three commercial burglary charges," said Cody Hiland, "One insurance fraud and then one misdemeanor which is fraudulent application for credit."
The affidavit for the case accuses Gillean of helping a student cheat on tests by giving him a master key to university buildings.
It said Gillean also falsely listed someone he met on craigslist as the assistant chief of staff for the University so that person could purchase a 2011 Ford Mustang.
"I pay way too much money for that to be appropriate," said UCA freshman Caitlin Straw who said she's upset by the news but said she doesn't believe it reflects poorly on her university.
A sentiment we heard from other students like Kyle Turetzky who said he does however have some reservations.
"I do wonder with the track record for the administration what is the interview process," said Turetzky. "How are we deciding who we bring in as administrators."
Hiland said the university was compliant with the investigation.
"They've been completely transparent and cooperative through the process and responded to it the way an institution should."
Like many students Hiland said this case should not be how the entire university is perceived.
"99% of people are doing the right thing educating people and doing a great job," he said. "This is about one individual."
While charges have been filed as of Friday, there have been no arrests made.
